The club was formed around 1992 to further the interests of jazz & blues music in Auckland.

The club has a membership of around 250 and has regular club nights every Tuesday evening at the Birkenhead RSA.

Concerts start at 7.30pm and finish at 9.30pm with a break at half time. Meals are available before the concert. Full bar service.

Ample off-street parking. Come early to secure your seating.

Each night features a different local or out of town band.. Sometimes an International star makes an appearance.

An evening of musical conversation not to be missed, featuring two of New Zealand’s finest jazz musicians in an intimate duo setting. Dixon Nacey and Kevin Haines will release their first album as duo, performing brand new original tunes alongside reimagined arrangements of their favourite standards.

Insight

This particular journey started some 16 years ago when I first met Dixon, quite by chance on a gig with my son Nathan.

From the very first tune we played together, I always had it in my mind that someday I would like to play a duo session with him.

About two years ago we did play a duo gig and both said at the time how much we enjoyed the freedom of just two musicians together exploring the arrangement and improvisation.

Subsequently, we did a small concert, which proved we could achieve our goal and so we made plans to record. That happened just this year, and here are the results of sitting down together and just bouncing musical ideas off each other.
