The club was formed around 1992 to further the interests of jazz & blues music in Auckland.

The club has a membership of around 250 and has regular club nights every Tuesday evening at the Birkenhead RSA.

Concerts start at 7.30pm and finish at 9.30pm with a break at half time. Meals are available before the concert. Full bar service.

Ample off-street parking. Come early to secure your seating.

Each night features a different local or out of town band.. Sometimes an International star makes an appearance.

Soul Bossa Duo, a Brazilian Bossa Nova founded by Amanda Bovo (vocals) and Juliana Sian (piano), has been representing Brazilian music in New Zealand since 2018.

The duo has been playing in Auckland at various venues such as Dr. Rudi's & Botticelli restaurant.
In 2020, the concert "Black Pearls" earned glowing reviews from the 13th floor. Songs by Tom Jobim, Milton Nascimento, Elis Regina, and Debora Gurgel are among the varied repertoire, which incorporates traditional Brazilian jazz as well as other Brazilian rhythms.

Neil Williamson originally studied drumming with New Zealand
pioneer Frank Gibson Jnr. In 1988 he studied at the NSW
Conservatorium of Music, receiving tutelage from David Jones, one Jazz and Blues
of Australia's most high calibre drummers. Neil was exposed to a diversity of musical influences, while studying and performing in Australia where his main gig was the Red House Rockers. He has backed many NZ artists and various Afro Cuban bands around Auckland.
