Auckland-based Americana act The DeSotos are delighted to be setting out on a North Island tour in November with their full four piece line up.
And the band are excited to kick off the tour with a performance at the Auckland Jazz and Blues Club on Tuesday 1 November.
The DeSotos sound mixes elements of Americana, country rock and blues to produce a gumbo of roots-based and harmonically driven music.
Since their first album ‘Cross Your Heart’ in 2008 the band has consistently drawn critical praise for both their recordings and live appearances.
This tour will include new material from lead singer and guitarist Paul Gurney’s forthcoming solo album ‘Blue Horizon’ as well as other classic originals tried and tested on the road.
And you are always going to hear a Neil Young and Tom Petty song or two at a DeSotos show. Both great muses of the band.
The DeSotos line up is;
Paul Gurney – lead vocals, guitars, blues harp
Stuart McIntyre – bass, vocals
Ron Stevens – Hammond, piano, acoustic guitar, vocals
Bryan Harris – drums, vocals
“Both Gurney and McIntyre write brilliantly. The DeSotos music oozes genuine emotion and makes all the right moves”
Gary Steel, Metro magazine
“New Zealand music at it’s best”
Tony Moon, Weekend Sun, Tauranga
“The voice is just genius....seriously the best vocalist I have heard in a long time”
