The club was formed around 1992 to further the interests of jazz & blues music in Auckland.

The club has a membership of around 250 and has regular club nights every Tuesday evening at the Birkenhead RSA.

Concerts start at 7.30pm and finish at 9.30pm with a break at half time. Meals are available before the concert. Full bar service.

Ample off-street parking. Come early to secure your seating.

Each night features a different local or out of town band.. Sometimes an International star makes an appearance.

Queen City Big Band with The New Zealand School of Music's New faces

The Auckland Jazz & Blues Club proudly present some of The New Zealand School of Music’ s foremost up and coming young musicians and vocalists supported by none other than the Queen City Big Band. We promise a fantastic and exciting night of Big Band and small group jazz, great vocalists and soloists. You will see and hear young instrumentalists and vocalists at the peak of their studies and performance.  
 
Michael Harray – Drums, performing some outstanding works in the style of Buddy Rich, this is Michaels recital night, you will be blown away by his stunning ability.
 
Michael will be supported for his recital performance by the Queen City Big Band and for the first time with the band fine vocalist  Jeremy Hantler along with  fellow students Liam Janes on bass, Jason Herbert on guitar and teacher and mentor Alex Ward on piano. 
 
The Queen City Big Band will also showcase the talents of 4 wonderful female vocalists, Allana Goldsmith, Loua’na Whitney, Kylie Todd,  Maria O’Flaherty and also feature a special vocalist guest, Julie Mason.
 
And it doesn’t stop there, trumpet player Mike Booth will be in supporting the Queen City Big Band trumpet section. 
This is a night not to be missed, 30 of Auckland finest musicians and vocalists performing some outstanding Jazz music.
